You have certainly done a lot of work on this project and it sure is a very interesting and informative site.   After taking all that time to put into your project, I'm sure you would appreciate receiving information to help in having your information as accurate as possible.   Therefore, I am writing to update your information with regard to the family of George Robert Durnford & May Touchings which currently obtains is a few errors.

George Robert Durnford was married to May Durnford (not Mary).   Their 1st child was Rita May (born July 25, 1938) married Clyde Skinner (born July 29, 1934).   They had 6 children:   Jane, Cathy, Connie, Cindy, Michelle & Lori.

Their 2nd child was Georgina Marie (nicknamed Joan) born January 24,1940 (deceased Febuary 2001) married Kenneth Stanley Ball (born June 18, 1940).   They had 4 children:   David, Dale, Dana & Deanna.

Their 3rd child was Guy (born September 16, 1947) married Dora Bird (not Doria Burton)(born June 25, 1952).   They have 2 children:   Diane (born July 7, 1979) and Lorne (born March 15, 1983).

Dora Durnford (nee Bird)

Hi

My Ball family were fishermen from Cornwall England. They fished out of Gorran Haven. Rumour has them coming from Jersey through Devon to Cornwall. Another spelling of the name was Bale which was probably a spelling mistake. Also I have a friend from Rencontre West--Terry Skinner.

Hi Tina:
Just a slight error in pictures. The picture you have listed as Catherine Merale Gaulton is actually Catherine
Ann Vincent (nee Gaulton) who married Samuel Vincent. Thomas W Gaulton

Interesting!

I'm from a different branch of the Balls of Newfoundland.   Great grandfather William and a host of other Balls were born in mid 1800's around Exploits Burnt Islands.   Any idea how related this branch is to the south coast Balls?

Nice Work!

I'm Owen Ball, from Drogheda, CO.Louth. Ireland. My father hails from Bohermeen Co.Meath, were there seems to be a splash of the Ball family surname. I recently started a group on Facebook at   http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=22781231504   in an attempt to find out a bit more about the name.

Hi there

Just searching some family history from Recontre West also, and came across your site. My Moms Family lived there until it got resettled. They are the Degruchys. Her parents were Thomas and Lucy Degruchy from Recontre west. I was wondering if you had any pictures of Recontre West back then, or even recent pictures.

Thanxs so Much, Susan Baker

Hi Tina - I must seem like the biggest pest, but I still haven't received your email that you sent again on the 23rd.   I did realize that I could print the sheets off and have been working steadily at that for the last few days - quite a job and then I will be checking the info of yours against what I have already and will be adding lots I am sure.   Thanks again and let's not give up on the email.   I did call and will try to reach you by phone again. Julia

Hi Tina,   Didn't receive your email - it is now the 23rd and I think you sent it yesterday.   Would you mind double checking the address that you sent it to - it should be haaspng@hotmail.com - I am quite anxious to hear from you. I am hoping to be able to print off what you had on the website, but need to have your permission to do so I think.   I can call at no cost if that is ok.   Looking forward to hearing from you.   Julia (Durnford) Haas

Hi Tina,   My name is Julia (Durnford) Haas living in Bedford, N.S. - my Dad was Jack Durnford son of George William Durnford - my mom was Mary Jane Nash Durnford of Halifax.   I am so excited about discovering your site.   Shirley Poole put me onto it - she used to have a campsite next to my parents for years and we didn't realize that we were related through the Ball family.   This is so exciting.   I love all your pictures.   I have been collecting family names and connections for the past 10 years and between my husband's and my side have over 3,600 names and now I think I will be adding alot more through your info.   Thank you soooooooo much for all your work - I know how long it takes to do this work, but it is so rewarding.   you can email me at haaspng@hotmail.com - Julia
